Rosa revealed Claire had grown up in staff housing behind the Ashford hotel.

“She served champagne in rooms built from workers’ unpaid overtime. Then the family called her a gold digger for loving the owner’s son.”

Claire’s father helped create the worker trust after employees surrendered wages during bankruptcy. The trust promised housing shares, medical support and legal protection for their descendants.

Eleanor later reclassified those contributions as voluntary gifts.

Rosa placed old payroll receipts beside Diane’s VIP pin.

“Our wages were real. Only your promise became symbolic.”

Henry admitted approving the restructuring without reading the worker schedules. He had believed the shares were obsolete.

Ruby looked at him.

“Adults keep saying they didn’t read things after children lose homes.”

Henry accepted removal from every related board.

Then the attorney found a confidential agreement signed by Rosa after Claire lost custody. Rosa had accepted two hundred thousand dollars and agreed never to contact Ethan.

Rosa closed her eyes.

“I took it to keep Claire out of jail.”

But the payment came from the workers’ own legal fund.
