Claire had never authorized the buyouts, yet every transfer carried her verified signature.
Thomas told reporters that the new worker champion had secretly purchased vulnerable employees while pretending to defend them.
Michael refused to let that become the whole story.
“The contract offered medical care only if we surrendered our rights.”
Claire gathered all sixty-three signers inside the Newark cafeteria.
She did not shame them.
“You were forced to choose between justice later and survival today. The crime belongs to whoever designed that choice.”
Most workers agreed to challenge the contracts.
Michael kept his copy.
“My mother’s surgery is Friday. Principles will not keep her alive.”
Claire answered, “Then the worker fund will pay without buying your silence.”
Rosa remained cautious.
“First learn whose money that fund contains.”
Auditors opened the Claire Bennett Foundation records. It had been created when Claire was sixteen using proceeds from the first Plant Three settlements.
A sealed file carried her childhood photograph.
