Chapter 60 - THE CONFESSION INSIDE THE GOVERNMENT’S BOX.

Claire returned to Newark as federal receivers approached the gate.
They carried an order declaring the worker experiment unsuccessful and transferring every plant into government control.
Evelyn stood beside machinists and Plant Three families.
“You promised ownership. Was this always another test?”
Claire handed her Thomas Bennett’s authorization.
“My father created the experiment. I inherited it without understanding it. I will not defend his secret because I loved him.”
The government counted Riverbend’s shutdown and Carolina Heritage’s closure as failures.
Ana challenged them.
“No worker died. No machine was stolen. We stopped danger. That is success.”
Claire filed an emergency federal action written by attorneys elected by the plants.
Adrian surrendered the last Whitmore assets to guarantee payroll.
The judge suspended the seizure and ordered a public trial.
Workers would decide whether ownership meant obedience or the right to stop unsafe work.
Then the government opened its first evidence box.
Inside was Thomas Bennett’s confession.
