Helen admitted buying claims, but insisted she used Thomas Bennett’s hidden fund to keep Whitmore attorneys from destroying them.

“I held them until Claire could control the company.”

Rosa’s voice hardened.

“You held our dead husbands like assets and never told us.”

Helen answered, “If I had asked permission, the Whitmores would have reached you first.”

Claire refused to defend her.

“Protection without consent is still control.”

The families demanded that Helen surrender every claim. She agreed and left the foundation.

Caleb refused. He controlled thirty-one percent of the remaining claims and threatened to use them to seize Newark.

“You want worker ownership?” he said. “I am a worker, and I own the right to take it.”

Evelyn faced him.

“You bought desperation. You did not earn authority.”

The families combined their claims inside a survivor trust with one vote per household. Caleb lost his majority overnight.
