Riverbend’s system had copied credentials from Plant Three, preserving dead workers as permanent access keys.
Evelyn stared at her father’s name on the screen.
“They made him authorize danger nineteen years after killing him.”
Marcus found the active terminal in a glass office above the casting floor.
Riverbend owner Charles Voss was entering commands while employees evacuated.
He claimed restarting the line would prevent molten metal from hardening.
Claire ordered him to stop.
“You insured workers for more than the equipment. Who were you saving?”
Voss replied, “Owners make decisions employees are too emotional to make.”
Marcus cut the fuel safely. Federal agents arrested Voss.
His office contained eleven sealed death-benefit portfolios tied to other plants. Each listed projected payouts, funeral costs and prepared media language.
