Chapter 51 - THE SIGNATURE ON TWELVE PLANTS.

Claire stared at the federal inspection form bearing her verified signature.

She remembered signing a national safety partnership after the Whitmore breakup. The document allowed plants to use worker-owned patents only after inspection.

The twelve addresses had been added later.

Evelyn Price read the fine print.

“Your signature approved inspectors chosen by Leonard’s network.”

The newest inspection belonged to Riverbend Steel in Ohio, where nine hundred workers were starting the night shift.

Claire ordered an evacuation.

The manager refused.

“You billionaires create panic, close a factory and leave our town unemployed.”

Welder Marcus Hill took the phone.

“We are defending paychecks due Friday.”

Claire answered, “Then workers decide. Open the files.”

The records showed Riverbend’s owners knew about the hidden bypass for seven years. They had also purchased life-insurance policies on every night-shift employee.
