Chapter 47 - THE AGREEMENT ADRIAN SIGNED BEFORE THE CRASH.
Emergency lights filled the factory while workers guarded the machines.
The failure was not part of Thomas’s countdown. Someone had entered the control room using Adrian’s old executive code.
Adrian said the code came from the years he could not remember after his car crash.
Margaret finally confessed that Leonard arranged the crash after Adrian signed an agreement restoring the worker patents.
“You erased my memory because I chose them?” Adrian asked.
“I thought losing five years was better than losing your inheritance.”
Adrian answered, “You protected the version of me that obeyed you.”
The restored agreement gave employees royalty-free use of every patent and placed historical liabilities on the former family trustees.
Thomas Whitmore tried to destroy it during the blackout.
Michael Reed saved the archive by activating the fire system.
When power returned, the vote appeared.
Eighty-seven percent chose temporary shutdown and worker restructuring.
